This year's theme, Back to the Beach, is a tribute to our deep roots in the Hampton Roads area and our unwavering commitment to our surrounding community, especially as we weather the impact of the coronavirus together. The Navy's largest open house in North America, the NAS Oceana Air Show is a way to give back to the community. We look forward to welcoming visitors from around the country and around the world to come to the Navy's East Coast Master Jet Base to see the high-performance aircraft and meet the outstanding men and women of Naval Aviation.
For 78 years, NAS Oceana, Dam Neck Annex and NALF Fentress have provided world-class support to the Navy and joint operational forces. What began as a remote military support landing field, Oceana grew to meet the enormous demands of naval aviation during World War II and beyond as the city of Virginia Beach grew around it. Today, Naval Air Station East Coast is the second largest employer in Virginia Beach and a proud member of the Hampton Roads community.

The airfields at NAS Oceana and NALF Fentress are strategic assets of the US Navy. One of the Navy's nine class naval airport systems and one of the busiest airports in the entire region, NAS Oceana supports approximately 600 operations for 17 squadrons and four carrier air wings on a typical day. Our air traffic controllers operate in 10,000 cubic miles of airspace, ensuring the safe and swift flow of air traffic. Our terminal supports the demand of an average of 520 marine air logistics offices, which averages 21,000 passengers, 1,200,000 pounds of baggage and 850,000 pounds of cargo. The transition line serves 1,800 transition aircraft annually.

Dam Neck Annex currently houses multiple training schools and a joint command and serves 15,000 sailors annually.
NAS Oceana is currently implementing Future Base Design, an innovative initiative to modernize installation capabilities, increase durability and reduce total cost of ownership and footprint. By partnering with local, state, and industry entities to identify mutually beneficial cooperative partnerships to meet capability requirements, future base design performance will increase installation resilience and effectiveness in direct support of warfighter readiness, mission priorities.
